Hello! Rebecca Scalese here! This page will be gathering information about Creative Release, my experimental, ongoing webcomic. Scroll down a little for an introduction to the project.
What is this all about? Creative Release is a narrative experiment. Or rather, a bunch of narrative experiments. It was born from my love for roleplaying, from my recurrent desire to narrate to an ever increasing audience, and from my wish to break the usual author-reader relationship.
Format Creative Release is an interactive webcomic. Whenever I post a page, readers are allowed to react to the new events in the narrative, by stating what they'd like to see in the next page in a comment. At the beginning of Creative Release, this was accomplished by having a character, Ann, be controlled by the readers to an extend... But the situation has evolved. No matter what, remember that everything is possible, and nothing is pointless.
Availability Right now, Creative Release is only available in digital format here on deviantArt. I am more or less searching for a competent coder to build a whole website for me, because I would like to allow anonymous participation among tons of other things (something dA doesn't allow). Don't hesitate to contact me if you want to work with me!
Can I participate? Absolutely! Just check which ruleset (they're usually explained in the artist's comment sections) is currently active, and go to the latest page to input whatever you like! I read all the comments I receive. I try to answer them all, too.
Are there any limitations on reader input? Nope! If you propose something that I cannot or do not want to work with, I'll just pick another comment, but I don't want readers/players to censure themselves. Who knows what awesome ideas I could miss that way? Don't hesitate to propose something that has been proposed already. Having statistical data is helpful too. Also, you can use the dA muro function to add images to your proposition if you want to!
Alright, I'm not gonna lie--this concept has me hooked. What a great idea! I was hesitant at first because that big cherry monster on the left gives me the creeps, but now that I know it's a story born from the collective imagination of dA it starts to make more sense.
And this may seem like an inane comment, but I love how comprehensive and well-written your explanation is. Presentation matters!
Wow, one more piece of good news. Seriously this day keeps on getting better and better.
Thanks a lot for commenting According to most of the data I've gathered the big cherry monster on the left creeps everyone out. Which was its first purpose, so mission complete~
To be honest, I have much more control on the story than the readers (I still am the main author, and I pick comments that seem interesting to me). And it's usually pretty hard for people to realize exactly how much or how little their input has influenced the story. As the author I do know they've been very influential, but that's not something I can prove.
Thanks! I tried to make this page as engaging as possible. Looks like it works a little ^_^
Look good ^^
